4-H Whale Robotics is a North Carolina-based 501 c(3) nonprofit organization that is composed of three teams that participate in various FIRST® competitions. The competitions that we participate in are listed below.

FIRST® Robotics Competition

This competition is designed for high school students to build a large robot that competes with others across the nation. Robots may use hydraulics, pneumatics, and other relatively advanced engineering aspects. Teams need at least $20,000 to effectively compete and mostly receive funding from corporate sponsorships and grants.

FIRST® Tech Challenge

This competition is designed for both middle school and high school students to build an 18" x 18" robot that accomplishes an intermediate-level task. Robots may not use hydraulics or pneumatics, but can otherwise use most of the components available for  FIRST® Robotics Competition. Teams need at least $8,000 to effectively compete and mostly receive funding from corporate sponsorships and grants.

FIRST® LEGO League

This competition is designed for elementary school students and introduces engineering and programming concepts to aspiring STEM leaders. Students in this competition build a LEGO robot that completes missions. Team mostly receive funding from donations and certain corporate grants.
